ICT AND CURRICULUM IN PERI-URBAN AND RURAL SCHOOLS, ARE WE READY?

The national lockdown has demonstrated that technology is no longer a luxury but an important component of the education eco-system. In identifying possible solutions, a range of critical factors must be considered including teacher training and capacitation for the delivery of curriculum using technology, infrastructure, resources such as tablets, smart phones, digital boards, laptops and access to data and internet connectivity. The protection of school resources and infrastructure from community theft and vandalism is also a milestone that is hindering progression.

The inequality between public and private schools has been put on the spotlight during the national lockdown. This is a glaring discrepancy in our education system, prompting us to draw lessons on how the rural and peri-urban schools we work in can be better equipped for digital teaching and learning”.

KST in partnership with the Free State Department of Education (FSDoE) invite you to join the panel discussion webinar where the above topic will be unpacked, debated, and discussed facilitated by renowned education expert and thought leader Prof Mary Metcalfe.
