Curriculum Development Highlights April 2017 – March 2018:

KEY SUCCESS MEASURE: IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

  • Measure the progression of learners during the intervention of the programme.
  • Enable learners to reach their full potential.
  • Capacitate teachers in each phase to manage the rotation of teachers, as well as ‘’master’’ teachers to manage high attrition.
  • Address key socio-economic issues affecting schools, as best possible.
  • Ensure continuity and sustainability within schools, upon exit from district.
  • 1357 educators in total
  • 109 schools engaged in curriculum interventions
  • 311 mathematics educators
  • 47 accounting educators
  • 24 geography educators
  • 45 economics educators

Empowerment and Transformation Highlights April 2017 – March 2018:

KEY SUCCESS MEASURE: EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP

  • Influence the province and the districts as to how resources are deployed.
  • Develop committed and accountable leadership within schools.
  • Ensure that the School Governing Body members actively participate in enhancing schools.

31 Schools Were Inducted into the KST Programme through Empowerment and Transformation Workshops

Infrastructure Development Highlights April 2017 – March 2018:

KEY SUCCESS MEASURE: UPGRADED INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Every school will have the minimum required basic infrastructure.
  • Incentive-based infrastructure awarded to all high performing schools (as per agreed performance targets).
    • 25 schools received infrastructure
    • 9 new school facilities built
    • 422 jobs opportunities created

Social Development Highlights April 2017 – March 2018:

KEY SUCCESS MEASURE: INVOLVED PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS

  • Involvement and participation of parents.
  • Temporary jobs created for residents in each of the districts during the provision of infrastructure to schools.
  • Involvement and ownership by communities and schools.
    • 29 867 learners underwent vision screening
    • 831 spectacles have been dispensed
    • 34 community caregivers have been trained
